Higher Education Subcommittee
Purpose: The SPC Higher Education Subcommittee was formed to create a network of San Diego county colleges and universities that could collaborate on efforts related to suicide prevention programs, education, and awareness.
Each year, the Higher Education Subcommittee holds their annual Campus Plunge, an event held at one of the participating college campuses to share best practices with one another and to network with subcommittee members. The subcommittee also takes part in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s annual Out of the Darkness Walk.
Goals:Â
- Establish strong partnerships between higher education institutions and the community. Â
- Share best practices, resources, and opportunities.Â
- Create suicide prevention and mental health resources and provide trainings for college and university students, faculty, and staff. Â
- Participate in and support various suicide prevention and mental health efforts and events. Â
