LEMON GROVE HEAL ZONE
The Lemon Grove HEAL Zone is a community collaborative funded by Kaiser Permanente and convened by Community Health Improvement Partners (CHIP). This 3-year, 9-month program will empower residents to lead healthier lives through environmental changes that are sustained by policies and enhanced by education and promotion. The Lemon Grove HEAL Zone’s collaborative includes organizational representatives and Lemon Grove residents representing the nine sectors most influential in creating a healthier community:Â business, community, early childhood, faith, healthcare, local government, media, schools, and service organizations. Along with representatives from Kaiser Permanente and CHIP, two members of each sector form the Lemon Grove HEAL Zone Steering Committee, Budget Subcommittee, and Action Teams.
The Lemon Grove HEAL Zone is designed to help combat obesity by making healthy choices accessible to more people in underserved communities across Southern California. The HEAL Zone Initiative follows the Kaiser Permanente HEAL Zone Framework, which articulates the program’s vision, goals, and projects that will make a meaningful, measurable, and sustainable change in Lemon Grove.
