Brew Rendezvous

Community Health Improvement Partners (CHIP) will be hosting our 2nd Annual Brew Rendezvous - A food, farm and craft beer pairing event on Sunday, May 18th from 1:00-4:00pm at SILO Makers Quarter. The event will be celebrating the unique role of craft brewers, local growers, and restaurateurs in cultivating community and health. Proceeds from this event benefit CHIP's efforts to tackle obesity through the development of a healthy, sustainable and regional food system.

Meet our Brew Rendezvous Planning Committee Co-Chairs!

Culinary Co-chair - Alex Carballo

Alex Carballo

Alex Carballo is nationally respected as of one of Restaurant Hospitality Magazine's "12 to watch in 2012" and noted in top industry publications such as Food & Wine, Sunset Magazine and Draft Magazine. He mastered his skill from both San Diego State University and the National Culinary and Baking School. Currently, Alex acts as a Partner to URBN El Cajon, serves as a board member for Chef Celebration and The Front Burner Foundation, advises for the C.H.I.P "California Farm to School Task Force," and donates his time to many charities in Southern California. Alex has also held the position of Executive Chef at many prestigious San Diego restaurants, such as Crosby Country Club, Indigo Grill, Brigantine and The Fishery. We are proud to call him as one of our co-chairs to the second annual Brew Rendezvous here at Community Health Improvement Partners.

Brewery Co-Chair - Bill Sysak

Bill Sysak

Bill Sysak, or as he's more often referred to, "Dr. Bill," is the Craft Beer Ambassador for Stone Brewing Co. "Dr." Bill is a Certified Cicerone® and has proven expertise in selecting, acquiring and serving craft beers. At Stone, he's responsible for setting the beverage standard and ensuring the beverage philosophy is followed at all Stone Brewing Co. venues. "Dr." Bill is widely considered one of the foremost experts in the field of pairing beer with food. He hosts many Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens events including: Beer & Cigar Dinners, Master Pairing events, Sour Fest, Oakquinox, Stone Pour it Black, and Rare Beer Breakfast. Sysak has also been featured in such publications as New York Times, Draft magazine, Imbibe, Los Angeles Times, and Food & Wine. CHIP is excited to have "Dr." Bill Sysak as one of our co-chairs for the second annual Brew Rendezvous.
