The San Diego County Childhood Obesity Initiative is a program facilitated by Community Health Improvement Partners. Community Health Improvement Partners (CHIP) is a collaboration of San Diego health care systems, hospitals, community clinics, insurers, physicians, universities, community based organizations and the County of San Diego, who are dedicated to a common vision. The mission of CHIP is to assess and address priority health needs through collaboration.

Charting the Course VI: A San Diego Community Needs Assessment
Charting the Course provides a resource for the entire community of San Diego County.  The report aims to guide individuals, agencies, and institutions in identifying community health needs and concerns and to be the basis upon which community health programs and interventions can be targeted, developed and evaluated. The ultimate goal of the report is to empower the community to improve the health of its members.

Behavioral Health Work Team
Collaboratively, the Behavioral Health Work Team will contribute to the improvement of the:

  • Mental / behavioral health of the public; and
  • Behavioral health services;

by augmenting existing and/or developing new programs (e.g. behavioral health promotion, education and pilot projects) that will strive to make significant, measurable impact to the community.

Gift of Health
Gift of Health sponsors health insurance premiums for children with chronic conditions of low-income families in San Diego County.

Health Literacy San Diego
The mission of Health Literacy San Diego is to improve healthcare communication by addressing literacy abilities, language barriers and cultural differences.

ICANATWORK
ICANATWORK is a free coalition of local business leaders, CEOs, human resource directors and wellness experts designed to help businesses of all sizes adopt effective wellness strategies.

Resident Leadership Academy
The Resident Leadership Academy empowers residents in San Diego County communities. This empowerment leads to improved quality of life in neighborhoods, with changes promoting physical activity and healthy food choices.

Suicide Prevention Action Plan Committee (SPAPC)
On April 1, 2010, the County of San Diego awarded CHIP a contract to form an interagency  Suicide Prevention Action Plan Committee (SPAPC) to create and introduce a Mental Health Services  Suicide Prevention Action Plan for San Diego County.  The action plan will be the sole activity of SPAPC for the next 2-2.5 years.
